Got one of these for a christmas present. Sort of a neat gadget with 5 to 6 liter capacity. It has an air pump and chiller. Anyone know where I could get a couple of used 5 liter Grolsh or Heiny party kegs?
Also, if I keep beer in the unit only using compressed air, how long can I keep the beer [in the machine, cold and under pressure] before it spoilsl?

I doubt you are going to see spoilage. However if your using compressed air you are going to see oxidation. I know there are similar units that use CO2 cartridges(or nitrogen for that matter), but it does not look like thats an option. Though you could probably rig something using a cask breather for inspiration.
Beer-Wine.com sells new 5l kegs that should work in your until for about 10 bucks. I know I've seen them out at the co-op as well but I don't know their prices on them.
Let us know what you think of it. I've been thinking about getting something similar for my bar area to serve "Real Ale" once in a while.

To Ale is human, to ferment divine.

Dutch, one of my brothers has several of those just waiting to be recycled. He asked me if I could use them, but I bottle everything. I'm sure I can get them for you. They are empty. Can they be easily cleaned? How many do you want?

University Liquor on the west side just got in 5 liter minii kegs of Bells Two Hearted Ale if you are looking for a great IPA to have on tap.
For everyone I haven't met, I used to live in Evansville and was a member of OVHA. After moving home to Jasper, and missing having good friends to brew with, I decided to try to start my own club. I am happy to say that I have been the president of the Dubois County Suds Club since 2006 (although I still miss my OVHA buddies)!

Well I'll be damned. I did not know they had those.

Mini Kegs
John,
That would be great - I could use two or three [or more]. To clean the units I could use the fittings supplied for tapping and simply use hot water with a little TSP to fill and soak, agitate and then rinse with clean water; that should do it?
Just EMAIL me back and I'll come and get them!
Thanks,
DUTCH

I've used those little kegs for some time with a little tap/CO2 handle system. I really like them but it's just hard to get the pressure just right sometimes.
Here is a unit that uses CO2.
