CO2 Quality Differences?

Post by areising » Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:23 pm

Is there any real difference between the CO2 filled at a Welder supply vs the "Food Grade" bought at AirGas? Any risk with the Welder supply quality? Looking for input. Thanks.

There's food grade co2 at Airgas? How much do they charge for that. Last time I was there swapping tanks it required me to leave an arm and a leg.
I guess in order for me to be able to distinguish the difference, I would have to try the certified food grade co2. But I don't think there is a difference.

I've been busting Airgas chops for 2 years niw, and still the beat the've done is fill 2-20# tanks for $40. Looks like I'll give Evv Welding supply a try after my tanks run out.

I went to AirGas here in Madisonville today to get CO2, Rodney asked if it was for Welding or my Keg System.. I asked what's the difference? In price - none.. But Elizabeth swears she can taste the difference and I noticed that the half glass of foam I usually get is not present. So maybe food grade CO2 is just that.. for serving beverages..
